St Brigid's Cross x 2

I was challenged..... and these are my first two efforts at meeting it.

St. Brigid's Cross.... two forms. One is an attempt to follow traditional Celtic weaving patterns, the other a more modern interpretation.

Of the two... I think I like the weaving better, although it is far harder to do.

The one on the right is taken now.....

Pendant, silver and.....

.223 rifle bullets, a tang from a silver spoon, a silver bail from a vintage piece...

Ornate and very unusual.

$75

Bullet pendants.....

Now, these are kind of interesting.

They begin as projectiles in 1950's vintage surplus Yugoslavian 8x57mm rifle ammunition. The bullets are pulled, using a reloading press and specialized gear.

The bullets are then emptied of all lead, leaving an empty heavy copper alloy jacket. This is done by the simple method of heating them to glowing, using a jewelers torch, and pouring the lead out of the open base of the bullet.

This leaves the copper jacket behind, much lighter, and free of lead.

To this copper bullet shell, a bail of copper is attached using silver as a working metal. The whole piece is acid dipped to clean of scale and stain, and then polished by hand till gleaming. A finish of organic hard wax is applied to maintain the shine, although the copper will color with age naturally.

The result is an edgy bullet pendant, much lighter than it looks, and attractive. It stands out....

$20 each.

Heavy silver, Size 11.

It was once a spoon, but now it's a bloody great big man's ring.

Because, after all.... there is no spoon.

Bullet earrings.... .223, with Peridot

.223 bullets, with the lead removed to leave only the copper jackets. 3mm faceted green Peridots are set in a pronged mount on the base of each bullet.

All is hand made, including the ear hooks.

Fiddly work... let me tell you.

$40 for the set, including shipping.

An interesting experiment. Full metal jacketed bullets pulled from 60 year old Yugoslavian 8x57mm rifle ammunition. The lead is carefully removed, leaving the jacket behind. As a result, the bullet is much, much lighter.

Edgy ear rings... no?

$20 for the pair.

Shooty jewelry..... Bullets and silver

.
Once again, exploring potentials. This time, using solid copper alloy bullets worked with silver.

30 Caliber rifle bullets, bonded to a silver pendant. Heated till the copper alloy welded itself to the silver, and then polished. The bullets are Barnes X, and are solid copper alloy with no lead.

$75

A Fiocchi 9mm EMB bullet, fired into a water trap for perfect expansion. Welded to a handmade silver ring, sized 7 1/4. Rather looks like a flower, doesn't it?

$75

30 Caliber solid copper alloy bullets, with silver, as ear rings.

A solid copper alloy 30 caliber bullet welded to a silver pendant.

Not everything makes the site.....

Sometimes I'm just not thrilled by what I make. More often than not, a piece with a displeasing line will go into the scraps crucible, destined for melting under the torch.

Sometimes, a piece will not appeal to my personal sense of interest or beauty, but leaves behind a nagging feeling that someone, someplace, will want it.

Case in point.... what is pictured above. What started as splashed balls of rocket hot silver skittering across the cold steel plate, ended up together in one small pendant.

$25

Medieval silver hairpiece....

Hand hammered silver, shaped and welded into a unique hairpiece. The three gently curved prongs slide into the woman's hair from the front, and then the sinuous hand shaped silver pin goes through from the side to fasten it in place. The shape of the pin and tension from the prongs hold it firmly.

It leaves a splash of hammered silver in the center of the forehead, with a small dangling mounting capturing a beautiful amethyst.

Unique... one of a kind...
